Early and peak blooming dates may slightly vary from the last year sakura forecast. Knowing it as a reference you can estimate yourself when would Japan cherry blossoms bloom in 2021. Every year, blooming period in particular places across Japan vary slightly from the previous years.

Japan Cherry Blossom 2020 Report

May 10, 2020 – Japan cherry blossom for 2020 has ended. This year, the sakura season was badly impacted by Covid-19. Many tourists were not able to take a trip to Japan during this hanami season.

May 4, 2020 – Most of the hanami spots in Hokkaido are in full bloom now.

May 1, 2020 – Recently, cherry blossoms have bloomed in Sapporo, and now they are reaching in their full glory.

April 6, 2020 – Cherry blossom season for this year in Tokyo and Yokohama has ended.

April 3, 2020 – The sakura season has arrived in Northern Japan with cherry blossoms in Sendai and Fukushima have reached peak bloom.

March 29, 2020 – Cherry blossoms are in full bloom in Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, Hiroshima, Yokohama, and Fukuoka.

March 23, 2020 – Sakura in Tokyo reached full bloom.

March 14, 2020 – The start of cherry blossom season in Tokyo has begun.

March 9, 2020 – Date of first bloom in Tokyo is on March 14 and full bloom will be on March 22, according to the fourth forecast of Weather Map Japan.

February 14, 2020 – Sakura are in full swing in Kawazu, a small town in the Izu Peninsula.

February 04, 2020 – It’s full bloom in Okinawa!

January 23, 2020Weather Map Japan has issued its first cherry blossom forecast of the season. Date of first bloom forecast: March 21 in Kochi, March 22 in Tokyo, March 25 in Osaka, March 24 in Nagoya, March 25 in Kyoto, and March 29 in Kanazawa.

January 10, 2020 – Japan’s sakura season for 2020 has been released by Japan Meteorological Corporation (JMC). Forecast of full bloom in Tokyo is around March 27, and sakura may start blooming in the city around March 19.

The map shown below indicates how the cherry blossom viewing season (Hanami) of Japan for 2021 goes upward (Hokkaido) from the lower elevations (Okinawa). Every year, Japan’s first cherry blossoms appear in Okinawa (southern Japan) then move northwards to Hokkaido by early May.

The dates of the first bloom and full bloom are subject to change due to the temperatures, wind, and rain. We strongly suggest you to check out the sakura forecast often so that you get the latest updates regarding this matter.

The average time for appearing cherry blossom may vary depending on the weather conditions. You better keep an eye on this year cherry blossom forecast for 2021 in order to catch all the action of sakura in different regions of Japan.
