Latest News: Japan’s sakura season for 2019 has been released by Japan Meteorological Corporation (JMC) and The private weather service Weathermap.

According to the forecasts, cherry trees will be in full bloom in Kochi on March 29, Tokyo and Yokohama on March 28, Kyoto, Osaka and Nara on April 1, Aomori on April 25, and Sapporo on May 2.


January 10, 2019According to Japan Meteorological Corporation, Japan cherry blossom viewing may come early this year.

~This year, it has been predicated that skaura will start to bloom as usual in Okinawa.

~Forecast of full bloom in Tokyo is around March 29, 2019 and sakura may start blooming in the city around March 22.

March 11, 2019The private weather service Weathermap has published its third cherry blossom forecast of the season on January 24.

According to its forecast, cherry blossoms are expected to open on March 22 in Tokyo, March 24 in Kyoto, March 26 Osaka, March 20 in Nagoya, and April 30 in Sapporo.


The map shown below indicates how the cherry blossom viewing season (Hanami) of Japan for 2019 goes upward (Hokkaido) from the lower elevations (Okinawa). Every year, Japan’s first cherry blossoms appear in Okinawa (southern Japan) then move northwards to Hokkaido by early May.

The dates of the first bloom and full bloom are subject to change due to the temperatures, wind, and rain. We strongly suggest you to check out the sakura forecast often so that you get the latest news updates regarding this matter.

The average time for appearing cherry blossom may vary depending on the weather conditions. You better keep an eye on this year cherry blossom forecast for 2019 in order to catch all the action of sakura in different regions of Japan.
